Gourdans started from an urge to get out of the corporate and office working life.
We considered options for starting our own business, though none lit the spark we were hoping for, until a trip to Belgium and several steak suppers later. Our passion for the outdoor life, eating and V Dub vans led us almost accidentally into Arturo’s ‘little vintage Renault Estafette’ path, after which everything else followed quite naturally to create our kitchen on wheels.
We adore Arturo and enjoy serving our delicious Steak Frites with our sauces and accompaniments. Gourdans name reflects the camaraderie between friends and family, being a take on a derogatory but a affectionate name calling.

Solar paneling on the roof of our van provides renewable energy for Arturo. All our packaging i.e boxes, napkins, cutlery is environmentally friendly and compostable. We try as much as possible to recycle or compost our waste.
As secondary producers we are very careful on the produce we select. Our vegetables and salads are from local wholesale greengrocers who hold full knowledge on the provenance of their stock. We attempt to purchase locally produced items if possible and so try to keep our accompaniments, sauces both local and seasonal, all of which is gluten free.
Premium Sirloin steak matured to 21 days for tender, succulent taste. All comes via an ethical breed programme that is Red tractor, DEFRA and British Quality Standard approved gold award winning beef; seasoned, seared in skillets to your personal preference.
The frites we use are of the highest quality and taste, cooked in Rapeseed oil, also gluten free.
